Paper 1: Wednesday 20th May in the afternoon
Paper 2: Wednesday 27th May in the morning
Paper 3 (Contract/Human Rights): Wednesday 10th June in the afternoon
OCR A Level Law Exam Dates
Paper 1 (The Nature of Law and the Legal System): Wednesday 20th May in the afternoon
Paper 2 (Criminal Law): Wednesday 27th May in the morning
Paper 3 (Contract/Human Rights): Wednesday 10th June in the afternoon
About the A Level Law Exam Dates
These A Level Law Exam Dates have been set and finalised by the exam boards and the regulator Ofqual. It’s worth noting that Papers 1 and 2 both fall before half term, meaning you have a shorter window to prepare for your first two papers than you might expect. Make sure you are revising all components of the course early, and you don’t leave Paper 1 content until the last minute.
One thing to consider when approaching your A Level Law revision is the importance of applying legal cases accurately. Case law is central to both AQA and OCR Law papers, and examiners expect you to be able to apply the right cases to problem scenarios with precision. Build a bank of key cases for each topic and practice applying them under timed conditions.
Making the most of revision time
With Papers 1 and 2 arriving before half term, your revision timetable needs to start earlier than you might think. We would recommend your first action being to create a revision timetable. These revision timetables mean you can plan out exactly when you will revise for each of your subjects. The best method to follow is to prepare for the hardest or your least favourite topics first, and then work towards your more favourable topics towards the exam.
One thing that many of the Study Dog team were guilty of during their revision time was taking lots of time preparing a revision timetable, only to not follow it when revision time came. Make sure you don’t fall into this trap!
