Small-group Politics tutoring,
from £20 a session

I have tutored A Level Politics to the AQA and Edexcel specifications for over 6 years. My particular interests are in British Politics, having completed my university dissertation on the changing nature of political participation since Brexit. I love linking the different topics in British Politics together, alongside introducing the ideas of political philosophy and global politics. I also have experience in tutoring Global Politics and International Relations, and bring my expertise in these areas to my tutoring sessions.

We will begin by recapping what we covered last lesson, before focusing our lesson on a core question.

We will explore the thematic background of the question, and look at the theories that help us understand it further. This will include linking it to previous topics you have covered. We will then look at how this topic can be used in an essay answer, linked to the core question. In preparation for tests, we can break down exam technique to build your confidence.

Each lesson will finish with a recap, and suggested individual activities and assessments, which I am happy to mark.

I first started tutoring at university, and gained a love for sharing my passion for Politics with other students. Tutoring through the pandemic was an eye-opening experience, and I have loved getting to know my students’ areas of interest and struggles, helping them overcome these and bring out the best in their political abilities.

I am a relaxed Teacher, incorporating many interactive elements. I like to engage in conversation about a topic, discussing the central aspects of a debate. I will always ask for your opinion on a topic, before offering a range of counter-arguments to appreciate the different views that may exist. This will always build your interest in the debate, and allow you to engage with it further. These discussions are always entertaining and light-hearted.

I love seeing students’ ideas develop, and bringing their passions out during the course. I encourage young people to engage with the political process, and learn about how the real political world is more accessible than they might initially think. I also love the ‘click’ students feel when they understand a topic.
