Start with free resources before you pay for anything. These are the foundations every other resource builds on.
Your exam board’s specification
The specification is the list of everything you can be examined on. Edexcel (9PL0) and AQA (7152) courses differ in many ways, especially in the structure of the papers and optional units. Print the specification for your board and tick topics off as you revise. If a resource doesn’t clearly match your specification, it isn’t worth your time.
Past papers, mark schemes and examiner reports
Past papers show you what questions look like. Mark schemes show you what earns marks. Examiner reports show you what students commonly get wrong. That third one is the most underused free resource in the subject.

Politics Explained is known for detailed essay plans, revision notes and a popular YouTube channel. It also runs live revision webinars in the run-up to exams. It’s strong if you want guided help with essay structure close to the exam.
